The shape at 10,000 km for PHEV
At this distance the car is almost entirely a depreciating asset. Depreciation dwarfs energy and maintenance, which makes any structure that finances only the depreciation — PCP, lease, salary sacrifice — comparatively efficient, and makes an expensive-to-buy, slow-to-depreciate car a worse idea than it looks. The PHEV specifics at this distance
On electric miles it behaves like a small BEV; past the battery range it is a petrol car carrying a battery. Real-world studies find fleet and company PHEVs are often charged far less than assumed, so their real fuel consumption sits well above the official figure.
Makes sense for a driver with home charging whose daily distance sits inside the electric range and who takes occasional long trips — and who will actually plug it in. Makes little sense as a tax-driven company car that is never charged.
Low mileage weakens the EV energy-cost argument: the per-kilometre saving is real but small in total, so the case rests on tax treatment and the price paid, not on fuel.
